Other currencies

Balances and settle-ups are always in Australian dollars. Turn on other currencies for a group from its More menu, and Add expense lets you enter an amount in rand, euros or any of 29 other currencies.

The rate is the European Central Bank's for the expense date (a weekend takes Friday's). Use my card statement to type what your card was charged instead, which shares any bank fees.

The dollar amount is fixed when the expense is saved and never worked out again. A rate moving between the dinner and the settle-up changes nothing: everyone owes the saved dollars, and settling up takes everyone to $0.00. Editing an expense keeps its saved rate, even if you change the date.
