Settling up
Mark as paid records a payment you've made outside Halvies, by PayID, bank transfer or cash. It doesn't move any money. The amount owed is filled in; you can change it to pay part, but never more than is owed, so a settle-up can't turn who owes whom around.
The payer's balance goes up by the amount and the receiver's goes down by the same amount. A settle-up isn't spending, so it isn't in Totals.
If the person you're paying has saved a PayID or bank account under How to pay me in the account menu, Settle up shows it with a copy button for each value and for the amount.
Paying for someone else: in a group of three or more, Settle up lists everyone else who owes the same person. Tick them to pay their share too, or part of it. Halvies records one settle-up for each person covered, saying who sent the money, so each balance moves as if they had paid their own. Nothing is recorded between you and the people you paid for.
You are owed $700.00 by Deb and $100.00 by Janelle. Deb pays $750.00 for herself and half of Janelle's:
- Deb paid you $700.00
- Deb paid you $50.00 for Janelle
- Janelle still owes you $50.00
